Supreme Court Rejects Vashu Bhagnani's Plea To Stay The Release Of Aishwarya Rai-Anil Kapoor's Fanney Khan
Filmmaker Vashu Bhagnani moved the Supreme Court on July 30 stating that he had been cheated in connection to the distribution rights of Aishwarya Rai-Anil Kapoor-Rajkummar Rao starrer Fanney Khan. He had claimed that the distribution rights of the film has been surreptitiously given to T-Series and he had demanded that the film's release should be stayed as a related suit about the same was still running and pending at the Bombay High Court.

The Supreme Court quashed the plea and refused to put any stay on the theatrical release of Fanney Khan.

The tweet read, "#BREAKING | Supreme Court refuses to stay release of @AnilKapoor and #AishwaryaRai starrer film #FanneyKhan which is to be released on Friday, dismisses plea of producer Vasu Bhagnani who seeks stay on public screening of the movie (sic)."

Talking about the film, Aishwarya is paired opposite Rajkummar. This is an unusual pairing, and people are expecting a fresh approach to their romantic storyline. Talking to a section of the media, Rajkummar said recently, "The chemistry between Aishwarya and me is being appreciated. People are saying there is a new couple in town in the form of both of us and I am completely okay with it. I have no problem with that."
Fanney Khan is the Hindi adaptation of the 2000 Dutch release Everybody's Famous directed by Dominique Deruddere, which was also nominated in the Best Foreign Language Film category at the 73rd Academy Awards. The film is based on the story of a 17-year-old aspiring singer whose career takes off after her unemployed father, who also harbours the dreams of becoming a musician, decides to kidnap the top singer of the country.

After winning the battle at the Supreme Court, Fanney Khan will hit theatres on its scheduled date of August 3.
